Understanding Credits

Students must earn credits in certain areas in order to meet the education requirements of the State of Connecticut and UHSSE. Your graduation requirements are listed in your student/parent handbook.

Students earn credit for each course passed.  No credit is earned if the course is failed.

In order to retain your seat at UHSSE, you must be promoted with your class each year. Promotion is dependent on you earning a predetermined number of credits each year:

To be promoted to grade 10 you need (7 credits)

To be promoted to grade 11 you need (14 credits)

To be promoted to grade 12 you need (21 credits)

To graduate from UHSSE you need (27 credits)

In specific coursework outlined in student/parent handbook.

UHSSE only accepts honors or college credit. Therefore, any coursework completed outside of the school or as part of a summer program, must be completed at the honors or college level.

Attendance can affect your credit.  If you exceed the number of unverified absences allowed by UHSSE (10 per semester), you will not be awarded your credit regardless of your grade in the class.  An unverified absences is any absence that has not been excused by the school, your parent/guardian or medically.
