Dear Parents/Guardians of University High School of Science and Engineering,

The commencement of the 2009-10 is finally here and we will be entering our fabulous new home.  I want to thank you for making a commitment to UHS as your educational school of choice for your child. The educational program at UHS has grown significantly in recent years and now with the new building it is time to take our program to the next level. In order for us to accomplish our goal of offering the very best education and contemporary 21 st Century program I urge you all to be active with the school and your child’s educational experience.  Your child has a very unique opportunity to take advantage of both a premier thematic high school featuring the early college model and science and engineering.  I look forward to increasing communication lines between the home and school to ensure the learning and maturation of your child.

The following are important updates

ConnectEd phone calls will be sent on Thursday, August 27 th pertaining to the University High School drop-off/pick-up procedure for both buses and parents. Also, this information will be updated on our website (UHSSE.org) for Hartford and Suburban procedure information.

• Back-To-School Night scheduled for September 24 th at 6:00PM which is where you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and tour the school.
• You will find the school calendar, uniform policy, and H1N1 flu information on our website.
• We are making efforts to post important parent announcements on the website.

We encourage all parents to be involved with the PTO as well as school activities. We will inform you of the first PTO Meeting soon. All questions can be addressed and answered on such date.

In the coming months UHS will be reevaluating our program and determining a plan of action to build upon the academic foundation that has been established. As the school year unfolds, you will be notified of parent events and participation opportunities. I look forward meeting you and ensuring your child(s) receive a great education and overall experience at UHS.
